‘The Murderous Miss Highsmith’: Shailene Woodley Is Patricia Highsmith In New Biopic With Cara Delevingne & Noémie Merlant

With films such as The Talented Mr. Ripley, Carol, Strangers On a Train, and many more, author Patricia Highsmith’s books have led to many great adaptations. But what about the writer herself? When does Highsmith’s story get told? Well, it’s about to happen as biopic The Murderous Miss Highsmith is hitting the Cannes marketplace, and this hot package already has an impressive line-up of female talent on both sides of the camera.

Deadline reports that Shailene Woodley will star as Patricia Highsmith in a story that reimagines a key period of her life before she writes her first Tom Ripley book, inspired by two doomed relationships with women.

Joining Woodley is Cara Delevingne (Carnival Row) and Noémie Merlant (Tár) as Highsmith’s companions.

Alexandra Pechman makes her directorial debut, joined by Carol producers Killer Films and Dead Ringers remake cinematographer Laura Merians Goncalves.
