The two Sonic the Hedgehog movies have combined for over $700M at the box office, and managed to snag surprisingly good reviews all around. While a third movie is on the way, Paramount is keeping the momentum going with a Paramount+ spinoff series featuring Knuckles, the angry Echidna voiced by Idris Elba in the sequel. And now we have confirmation that production is underway, along with a full run of the cast that will be joining Elba.
Elba won’t be the only one reprising a role. Knuckles will also see the return of Adam Pally as dim-witted deputy Wade Whipple, who Knuckles will attempt to teach the ways of the Echidna warrior. Also coming back for a guest appearance is Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski, town veterinarian, dear friend of Sonic’s, and husband to James Marsden’s character Tom in the movies. Rory McCann will have a guest role, as well.
The cast also features Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi, and Ellie Taylor in recurring roles.
Knuckles will act as a bridge between Sonic 2 and the upcoming third movie, which opens on December 20th 2024. [Variety]
