‘The Little Mermaid’ Trailer: A Sneak Peak At Disney’s Latest Live-Action Adaptation Dropped During Oscars

Amid a star-studded Oscars this evening, Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy introduced the first official trailer for their upcoming The Little Mermaid

Like the much-talked-about teaser that came out last fall, we see more of Ariel’s underwater world, including a first glimpse of her father King Triton (Javier Bardem), sisters, and even Sebastian the crab (voiced by Daveed Diggs).

McCarthy’s Ursula also makes her debut for audiences, as fans finally get a look at her tentacles and signature eye-shadow. It seems that Little Mermaid purists will be happy with the adaptation as the shipwreck, “Part of Your World” and “Kiss The Girl” scenes look almost identical to the original.

The Little Mermaid flips its fins into theaters May 26th, directed by Rob Marshall.
