Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, & Michael Fassbender Circling Nancy Meyers’ New Netflix Rom-Com

Nancy Meyers might be “queen of the rom-com”, but she hasn’t actually done anything since 2015’s The Intern. And that…well, it wasn’t great. However, Meyers is coming back in a big way for a new Netflix rom-com that boasts a wealth of A-list talent.

According to THR, Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Michael Fassbender, and Penelope Cruz are circling a new untitled romantic comedy for the streamer. Johansson would lead the film, which centers on a filmmaker who falls in love with a producer, the two of them collaborating on a series of successful projects before their relationship crumbles. Years later, they are forced to work together again, and all sorts of romantic hijinks will ensue.

Netflix is known for throwing around big money at their most high-profile projects, and they are investing huge in this one. A reported $130M is on the table for Meyers to play around with, so we’re talking about money usually reserved for something with a theatrical release.
