Morgan Freeman And Regé-Jean Page Attached To Muhammad Ali Event Series From ‘BlackKklansman’ Writer

A Muhammad Ali event series? Ho-hum. Feels like there’s a new one every other week. A Muhammad Ali event series from the writer of BlackKklansman and producers in Morgan Freeman and Regé-Jean Page? Well, now you have my attention.

Deadline reports that BlackKklansman writer Kevin Willmott will script Excellence: 8 Fights, a Peacock series based on Jonathan Eig’s biography Ali: A Life. The eight-episode series will chronicle eight critical moments in the controversial boxing champion’s life, focusing on his struggles outside of the ring.

Freeman and Page are currently aboard as producers with no deal to act in front of the camera. However, one has to expect they’ll have roles at some point. Page doesn’t really look the part, but he’d be the kind of big name that would draw eyes to this project.
