The Trailer for ‘The Price We Pay’ Is Here, and It Is NOT for the Weak Hearted

Every now and then a film comes out that leaves you thinking “How has this NOT been done 100x’s before?” The Price We Pay, starring Stephen Dorff, Emile Hirsch and Gigi Zumbado, fits that bill to a T. Basically Reservoir Dogs meets The Texas Chainsaw MassacreThe Price We Pay sees Stephen Dorff leading a crew of thieves (and a hostage) to safety after a botched pawn shop robbery. It’s not long after finding an isolated farm that they realize “safe house” is NOT the proper term for their situation.

I’ve always been a big Dorff fan and while Hirsch has always been hit or miss with me, when he hits, he hits hard. If the trailer is to be believed it’s astounding that this type of movie has been made on a large scale up to this point. I mean, think about it, in the 80s you had all these slasher films where the bad guy would end up being the main draw but it’s not like you could root for a monster slaughtering innocents. Just swap out those camp counselors for bank robbers or drug cartels and BOOM, ready made anti-hero.

To be clear, what we see in the 2 minutes highlighted below doesn’t seem to show heroes, anti or otherwise, in a single frame. What we DO see is a few quick glimpses into a hellscape tucked neatly below an idyllic farm. They make full use of the “Red-Band” nature of this trailer with quick shots of cut open bodies and mayhem. Bottom line, I’m SO in for this one.
