‘Fairy Tale’: Paul Greengrass To Direct Adaptation Of Stephen King’s Bestselling Fantasy-Adventure

There have been so many Stephen King adaptations lately it’s tough to keep track, but rarely is the director that much of a big deal. Quick, tell me who directed The Dark Tower!  Well, you won’t have any problem remembering who was at the helm of the next King movie headed to theaters, because it’ll be Oscar winning filmmaker Paul Greengrass.

Deadline reports that Greengrass will direct an adaptation of King’s most recent bestseller, Fairy Tale. Greengrass will also adapt and produce the feature, confirming the news yesterday alongside the author…

“Needless to say, I’m a Paul Greengrass fan and think he’s a wonderful choice for this film,” said King.

Greengrass replied, “” Fairy Tale” is a work of genius. A classic adventure story and also a disturbing contemporary allegory.”

Fairy Tale follows Charlie Reade, a grief-stricken teen nearing adulthood who befriends an old neighbor who gifts him a set of keys that open a portal to another world.

This will be Greengrass’ first film since 2020’s acclaimed News of the World. He’s also known for directing three Jason Bourne films, United 93, and Captain Phillips, among others.
