‘Don’t Worry Darling’ First Look: Olivia Wilde’s 1950s Era Psychological Thriller Stars Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, & Chris Pine

Olivia Wilde’s breakout directorial debut Booksmart was back in 2019. Feels like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it? Shortly after, she announced her followup would be the psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling, led by Florence Pugh and Chris Pine. Not bad, right? Well, it’s been a longtime coming, but the first look footage is here and so is a fall 2022 release date.

The film also stars Gemma Chan, Harry Styles, Nick Kroll, and KiKi Layne, centering on a  1950s housewife living in a seemingly perfect suburban community. But of course, all is not as it appears to be; she’s unhappy and her husband has a dark secret. The footage here doesn’t reveal much, which is probably a good thing to maintain secrecy, but the star power is undeniable. So is Wilde’s eye for the era, using an array of vibrant colors to capture a “happy” time most often depicted in black & white.

Don’t Worry Darling will hit theaters on September 23rd 2022.
