Lady Jaye Is Getting Her Own ‘GI Joe’ Live-Action Spinoff Series From Amazon

The GI Joe franchise has basically been on hold since 2013’s GI Joe: Retaliation, a film that did well, had lot of star power, but didn’t do quite well enough. So Hasbro decided on a different approach, by giving individual characters their own solo projects, like the upcoming Snake Eyes movie with Henry Goulding. And now another of the iconic Joes is getting a spinoff, only this will be a series for Amazon.

Deadline reports Paramount TV and Amazon are teaming for a live-action spinoff series focused on Lady Jaye, the elite military unit’s covert operations expert. The character was most recently played by Adrianne Palicki in Retaliation. She was created to be part of the ’80s cartoon, but her popularity led to action figures and an introduction into the comic book.

Lady Jaye will be spearheaded by writer/creator Erik Oleson, who previously worked on Amazon’s Carnival Row series.

The series will be part of the larger GI Joe universe, which includes Snake Eyes and the films that are expected to follow. My hope is that they’ll figure out a way to include Lady Jaye’s colleague and lover, Flint, a member of GI Joe’s top brass.
