‘Twilight Of The Gods’ Trailer: Zack Snyder’s Violent Norse Mythological Series Hits Netflix This Month

Both Netflix and Zack Snyder are hoping the violent, animated Twilight of the Gods can be the thing that repairs their fractured partnership. It began in a positive way with Army of the Dead and its subsequent spinoff Army of Thieves, but they were followed by two critically panned Rebel Moon films with extended cuts. They were so poorly received the streamer killed any hope of sequels and a planned animated spinoff.

Twilight of the Gods is right in Snyder’s wheelhouse, though. The Norse mythological series features big sweeping action on a grand scale, with heroes locked in legendary combat against powerful foes. If Snyder were to do an animated 300 movie, it would look like this.

SYNOPSIS: In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds and great despair, LEIF, a mortal King, is saved on the battlefield by SIGRID, an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love. On their wedding night, SIGRID and LEIF survive a wrath of terror from THOR, which sets them – and a crew of crusaders – on an against all odds and merciless mission for vengeance. This heroic story of love, loss and revenge, is a journey to Hell and beyond… across fantastical lands, battlefields fierce and bloody, and wars waged against Gods and demons.

The voice cast includes Sylvia Hoeks, Stuart Martin, Rahul Kohli, Paterson Joseph, and Jamie Clayton, Pilou Asbæk, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Kristofer Hivju, Thea Sofie Loch Næss, John Noble, and Peter Stormare. Composing the epic score is the great Hans Zimmer himself.

Netflix premieres  Twilight of the Gods on September 19th.
