Marvel Drops One 2026 Film, Adds Two In 2027, But Keeps ‘Blade’ On The Schedule

Now that Deadpool & Wolverine is out there and breaking box office records, Disney took some time to update the future slate heading into 2026 and 2027. Multiple untitled Disney films now have dates, but the most significant changes are for Marvel, which is entering an important phase leading to the next Avengers films.

So let’s start with a couple of easy ones. Still set for July 25th 2025, The Fantastic Four has been officially retitled The Fantastic Four: First Steps, as we first learned about at Comic-Con. The same goes for the newly-titled Thunderbolts* which remains on May 2nd 2025.

There are four movies scheduled for 2025, although Blade is unlikely to hit its November date. The film still has no confirmed director is without a completed screenplay. Heck, star Mahershala Ali barely seems to be involved at this point. There has to be an update soon, one way or another.

For 2026, Avengers: Doomsday is officially confirmed for May 1st 2026, the slot as when it was titled The Kang Dynasty. But continuing Disney’s plan to tighten up on the number of releases, the untitled film set for July 26th 2026 has been dropped from the schedule. That leaves the number of films for 2026 at just three, but don’t forget Sony could take up a spot for a fourth Spider-Man if things get rolling soon. The remaining dates are February 13th 2026 and November 6th 2026.

In 2027, Disney has added two Marvel dates on July 23rd and November 5th. With Avengers: Secret Wars coming in May, that gives them three movies in 2027.

Basically, Marvel Studios is sticking close to Bob Iger’s promise to limit the number of movies each year.
