Casino Royale, one of the best, if not the best, of the Daniel Craig era of James Bond, was directed by veteran filmmaker Martin Campbell. That film also starred Eva Green, and helped make her an international star. Campbell and Green are finally reunited in a new thriller, Just Play Dead, and this time they are joined by Samuel L. Jackson.
Just Play Dead has a script by another Hollywood stalwart, Dan Gordon, the 79-year-old writer of Wyatt Earp, Passenger 57, and The Hurricane. The film stars Jackson as a criminal mastermind who decides to elude the Feds by faking his death and cashing in on a huge insurance policy. Green plays his disgruntled wife, who thinks the plan would be better if he actually died and she collected the money.
Also in the cast are Eoin Macken, María Pedraza, and Jason Fernández .
Vertical will release Just Play Dead in select theaters on August 28th before digital on September 1st.
