Booster Gold just can’t catch a break. After a DC Studios project was announced last year from Our Flag Means Death creator David Jenkins, he confirmed on Threads that his take on it was no longer happening.
“My Booster Gold won’t be moving forward,” Jenkins wrote. Can’t improve on Mahershala’s lovely statement so I’ll just apply it here as well.”
Jenkins is referring to recent comments from Ali about his exit from Marvel’s Blade after seven years of development. He said, “For whatever reason, that project is not for me. If they wanted to do it, we would’ve done it. So I have to move on, and I have moved on.”
Jenkins’ specific words are key here, though. He says “My Booster Gold” won’t be happening. And in fact, The Wrap adds that a new attempt at a series is in the works from a different creative team.
Booster Gold was part of the first wave of announcements by Peter Safran and James Gunn at the launch of DC Studios. Jenkins inherited the project from Danny McBride, whose version never got off the ground, either. It was just weeks ago that Jenkins turned in his script for the pilot episode, which obviously Warner Bros. wasn’t into pursuing any further.
