If you loved movies in the ’80s and ’90s, finding out that John Travolta, Lukas Haas, and Rebecca De Mornay are starring together in a classic-style heist thriller should be music to the ears. Vertical has debuted the trailer for The Gentleman Thief, the third film from director Randall Emmett featuring Travolta as the legendary thief, Mason Goddard.
Here’s the synopsis: Master thief Mason Goddard (John Travolta) is lured out of retirement to steal an invaluable painting during an international art auction. He soon finds himself in an intricate, deadly trap set by a ruthless criminal kingpin hellbent on revenge. Unless he can pull off the most ingenious heist of his career, it’s game over for Mason and his ragtag crew of thieves. Along the way, Mason finds a chance at true love – but only if he can make it to the getaway alive…
Also in the cast are Sam Asghari, Quavo, and DJ Khaled!
It’s good to see Travolta back and in a role that lets him be the cool, slick actor we’ve always known him to be.
The Gentleman Thief follows 2024’s Cash Out and 2025’s High Rollers. It’s unclear if there will be a fourth, or if this is the end of a trilogy.
Vertical will release The Gentleman Thief digitally and VOD on July 28th, with a limited theatrical release on July 31st.
