With hit indie films Obsession, Backrooms, Hokum, and this week’s Leviticus, horror is having a peak moment. And now it’s NEON’s turn to get in on the scary fun. This August will see the release of It Ends, which genre enthusiasts have been buzzing about since it premiered at SXSW last year.
It Ends is written, directed, and edited by Alex Ullom in his debut feature. There are no big names in the cast, which is led by Phinehas Yoon, Akira Jackson, Noah Toth and Mitchell Cole.
Here’s the synopsis: Four recent college grads on a night time drive find themselves stuck on a road that sprawls on forever, with seemingly no end in sight. They are occasionally attacked by stragglers and have to find a routine to plan their rest stops, but after a few thousand miles it all feels the same. Still, they keep on driving, only in the belief something better will come eventually.
It Ends opens in theaters on August 21st. It was made available to rent digitally on Letterboxd late last year for a brief period before NEON picked up the rights.
