‘Pressure’ Trailer: A Storm Is Brewing For Brendan Fraser And Andrew Scott In Tense WWII Drama

My biggest fear going into WWII drama Pressure was how Brendan Fraser would do as General Dwight D. Eisenhower, commander of the Allied forces. It just doesn’t seem like a role that is a natural fit for the sensitive, soft-spoken Fraser. Without giving too much away, I saw the film a few days ago, and my concerns were quickly assuaged. Not only is he great as Eisenhower, but his co-stars Andrew Scott, Kerry Condon, Chris Messina, and Damian Lewis really help bring this unknown chapter in D-Day history to life.

Fraser stars as Eisenhower, with Scott as British meteorologist James Stagg. Stagg had the unenviable task of forecasting the weather just days prior to the D-Day invasion at Normandy. With top officials and a rival meteorologist pushing for a sunny outlook so the mission can proceed, Stagg must make a tough call that will decide the fate of the most crucial battle of the war.

Andrew Maras directs from a script he co-wrote with Andrew Haig, based on Haig’s acclaimed 2014 stage play.

SYNOPSIS: In the tense 72 hours before D-Day, and with the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, PRESSURE follows General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Captain James Stagg as they face an impossible choice—launch the largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether.
