‘X-Men’ Rumors: Odessa A’Zion Eyed For Rogue, Peter Claffey For Beast

As I said recently, the X-Men casting rumors are heating up. We already know Sadie Sink has a role, possibly as Jean Grey, and the MCU reboot is getting a rewrite Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear writer Joanna Calo.

The latest rumor comes from Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic, who says Marty Supreme breakout Odessa A’Zion is up for the X-Men role of the southern belle, Rogue. You may recall previous talk of Margaret Qualley being in line for the part. But A’Zion is arguably even hotter than Qualley around Hollywood right now, although if I’m honest neither actress seems like the right fit. Then again, neither did Anna Paquin, and she did a Hell of a job as Rogue in the Fox movies.

Rogue is one of the most popular X-Men ever, and it doesn’t matter what the medium is. You can NOT fuck this role up.

And then there’s Peter Claffey, fresh off his role as Sir Duncan, or “Dunk”, in HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. He’s reportedly “in the mix” to play Hank “Beast” McCoy, one of the five original X-Men. Now this casting I like a lot. Again, neither Nicholas Hoult nor Kelsey Grammer made sense before, but both turned out to be pretty good.

X-Men is to be directed by Jake Schreier, who directed the excellent Robot & Frank, the less excellent Paper Towns, and Marvel’s solid Thunderbolts* movie that they tried to convince you was an Avengers movie. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but Marvel has three open slots in 2028 and it’s likely to land on one of those.
