Jason Statham, punching bad guys, shooting guns, and righting wrongs while aboard a big ship? No, Statham isn’t remaking Steven Seagal’s Under Siege, although if he were, would you be surprised? Nah, he’s starring in Mutiny, and it looks like every other Statham movie except with a lot more water.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m down for all of this. Mutiny finds Statham as, what else, a highly-trained ass-kicker type, framed for a crime and fighting to get some revenge while aboard a cargo ship. Sure, count me in.
The film is directed by Jean-François Richet, a French director with some interesting action flicks under his belt, such as the Assault On Precinct 13 remake, Mel Gibson’s Blood Father, Plane with Gerard Butler and Mike Colter, and the acclaimed crime film, Mesrine.
Joining Statham in the cast are Annabelle Wallis, Roland Møller, and Adrian Lester.
SYNOPSIS: In MUTINY, after witnessing his billionaire boss’s murder and being framed for the crime, Cole Reed (Jason Statham) boards a cargo ship on a one-man crusade to avenge his boss’ death only to discover an international conspiracy.
Lionsgate releases Mutiny in theaters on August 21st.
