‘undertone’ Trailer: Paranormal Podcasting Proves Deadly In A24’s Latest Horror

A24 has been making its presence felt in the horror genre with one buzzy title after another, especially right around Sundance time. This year, the film that has everyone talking is undertone, which has its U.S. premiere in Park City later this month, after wowing Midnight audiences at Fantasia Fest. After yesterday’s creepy/weird teaser, the full trailer has finally arrived.

Marking the directorial debut of Ian Tuason, undertone combines elements of found footage and exorcism flicks with atmospheric sound design to create a unique experience. There’s a reason it launched a studio bidding war that A24 won with a seven-figure deal. Tuason is also set to lead the next Paranormal Activity film from Blumhouse and Atomic Monster.

SYNOPSIS: A podcast host covering spooky content moves in to care for her dying mother. When sent recordings of a pregnant couple’s paranormal encounters, she discovers their story parallels hers, each tape pushing her toward madness.

Nina Kiri leads the cast, joined by Adam DiMarco, Michèle Duquet, Keana Lyn Bastidas, and Jeff Yung.

Undertone hits theaters on March 13th.
