The 2026 Sundance Film Festival, the last one held in Park City, is coming to a close. And with it, the prestigious Audience and Jury Awards were handed out today. The big winner was Beth de Araújo’s searing drama, Josephine, which took the Sundance Audience and Jury Awards for U.S. Drama. The film stars Channing Tatum, Gemma Chan, and newcomer Mason Reeves.
Winning the World Cinema Dramatic Grand Jury was Shame and Money. The winner of the NEXT Jury Prize for Creative Expression was TheyDream, while the NEXT Innovator Award went to The Incomer, starring Domhnall Gleeson.
The Directing Award U.S. Dramatic was Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty starring Rinko Kikuchi, while the Waldo Salt Screenwriter Award went to Liz Sargent for Take Me Home. Stephan Ahn won the Special Jury Award for Debut Feature for Bedford Park, and the Special Jury Award for Ensemble went to The Friend’s House is Here.
One of my favorites, Soul Patrol, won J.M. Harper the Directing Award for U.S. Documentary. The Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Documentary went to Gabriela Osio Vanden and Jack Weisman’s Nuisance Bear. Barbara Forever won the Jonathan Oppenheimer Editing Award, and the Special Jury Award for Impact for Change went to The Lake. Who Killed Alex Odeh won the Special Jury Award for Journalistic Excellence.
Finally, the Audience Award for U.S Documentary went to American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez. The Audience Award for World Cinema Documentary was given to One In A Million, and the World Cinema Dramatic Prize went to Hold On To Me. The Next Audience Award went to Aanikoobijigan. The World Cinema Acting Ensemble Award went to Lady.
