It’s the first week of the new year, and as Netflix barrels into what’s expected to be a huge year with the expected acquisition of Warner Bros., the streamer is releasing a film and TV slate to match. The annual tradition of a teaser video of the upcoming highlights is here, and it’s decidedly more odd than usual. The video begins with One Battle After Another breakout, Teyana Taylor, as a dime store mystic guiding a young woman through glimpses of Bridgerton season 4, One Piece, Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2, Millie Bobby Brown in Enola Holmes 3, Theo James in The Gentlemen season 2, Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, One Piece: Into the Grand Line, and more.
Netflix has also released a wildly ambitious slate of new TV shows, established franchises, and most importantly to us, blockbuster movies. We get our first look at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the Man on Fire series remake, John Cena and Eric Andre in the comedy Little Brother, and the animated film Swamped featuring Michael B. Jordan. Also on the way but unlisted is David Fincher’s The Adventures of Cliff Booth starring Brad Pitt. Presumably, that will be announced and shown off to the public soon. Charlize Theron’s action-thriller Apex arrives in April.
It’s a lot to take in. Netflix might have the most interesting lineup of titles to keep an eye on this year. Check out the preview video below and the full slate of film/TV projects.
