Tom McCarthy is back. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, I understand. He hasn’t done a film since the Matt Damon-led Stillwater five years ago. But before that, he directed the Best Picture winner Spotlight and also won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Before that, he directed three indie gems in a row with The Station Agent, The Visitor, and Win Win. He also co-wrote the screenplay to Pixar’s Up. And now, McCarthy is returning with a new film, The Statement, that will star Paul Rudd, Paul Giamatti, and Peter Sarsgaard.
