New ‘Star Trek’ Movie In The Works From ‘Game Night’ Duo John Francis Daley And Jonathan Goldstein

When we learned the new bosses at Paramount were moving on from JJ Abrams’ Star Trek, we speculated it wouldn’t be long before news broke of a new path forward. And that turned out to be true. Deadline reports that Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will chart the next ‘Trek’ adventure.

As we learned previously, this new Star Trek will be a complete break from the previous films from Abrams’ Bad Robot, the most recent being 2016’s Star Trek BeyondGoldstein and Daley are an interesting team. They also wrote and directed the hit 2018 comedy Game Night, and wrote Spider-Man: Homecoming and Horrible Bosses. You could say they have a pretty good track record at launching new franchises, and that’s what Paramount needs them to do with this iconic sci-fi brand.

Currently, Daley and Goldstein are working on the Apple action-adventure film Mayday starring Ryan Reynolds, and will jump to Star Trek as soon as that is finished. Are they the right filmmakers to boldly go where Star Trek has never gone before? We’ll soon find out!
