British pop star Charli xcx has been making moves into acting for a few years, and with multiple upcoming projects (including Sacrifice, reviewed here), the most interesting is the mockumentary The Moment. The film looks like a comical tour through the singer’s incredibly popular Brat Summer, which sparked a cultural phenomenon in the summer of 2024.
Based on the new trailer, Charli xcx is just having a lot of fun goofing off with her friends, including Rachel Sennott, Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Kylie Jenner, Hailey Benton Gates, Isaac Powell, and Alexander Skarsgård. But it’s also a look at what happens when a celebrity takes charge of an entire summer and perhaps bites off more than they can chew.
The Moment is directed and co-written by Aidan Zamiri, who has been at the helm of videos for Charli xcx, Billie Eilish, and more.
If you guessed that this was an A24 movie, you’re right! It’s just so them. The Moment hits theaters on January 30th 2024. Maybe we’ll get lucky and it’ll pop up at Sundance?
