‘Song Sung Blue’ Trailer: Hugh Jackman And Kate Hudson Form A Neil Diamond Tribute Band This Christmas

When we think of Hugh Jackman, we don’t just think of him as Wolverine, although that definitely comes first. But we also think of him as “The Music Man”, and someone who gives us happy song and dance numbers as in The Greatest Showman, one of the most popular musicals in years. This Christmas, Jackman is back and putting on a show for us again with Song Sung Blue, starring alongside Kate Hudson in the true story of a Neil Diamond Tribute band.

Quietly, the buzz has been building about Jackman and Hudson’s performances in Song Sung Blue, and it could be a dark horse contender this awards season. Directed by Craig Brewer, whose expertise with music dramas includes Footloose, Hustle & Flow, and Black Snake Moan, the film centers on struggling musicians Mike and Claire Sardina, who start the popular, joyful Neil Diamond Tribute band Lightning & Thunder.

It’s good to see Brewer returning to this territory after doing two straight comedies with Eddie Murphy, Dolemite Is My Name and Coming 2 America.

Also in the cast are Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens, and Jim Belushi.

SYNOPSIS: Based on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians (Jackman and Hudson) form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams.

Get ready to have “Sweet Caroline” in your brain over the holidays. Song Sung Blue hits theaters on Christmas Day from Focus Features.
