After dabbling in quiet indie films for a spell, Daisy Ridley has really leaned into action films that demand a certain level of physicality. As such, Ridley has recently signed on for two films that will push her to the limit. One is MMA biopic Killa Bee, and the other is action-thriller The Good Samaritan from Taken director Pierre Morel.
First up, Killa Bee will follow in the footsteps of The Smashing Machine and Christy, in exploring the life of a real-life combat sports athlete. Ridley will play Southampton British ICU nurse Bryony Tyrell, a mother of two with a master’s degree in nursing and a degree in molecular biology, who spent her evenings as a cage fighter.
Killa Bee has a script by Ruth Sewell, and will be directed by Kenton Oxley (Farah).
The Good Samaritan sounds like a much bigger movie, as it has Taken and District B13 director Pierre Morel behind the camera and a script by Rambo: Last Blood writer Matthew Ian Cirulnick.
Here’s the synopsis: “When successful entrepreneur Dr. Rosalind Carver (Ridley) and her husband Matt rescue a wounded man drifting off the coast of Indonesia, they believe they’re saving a life – not stepping into a deadly conspiracy. Within hours, their yacht vanishes, Matt is abducted, and paradise turns into a trap. Hunted by pirates and imprisoned by corrupt officials, Rosalind’s only hope lies in Sean Fuller, a private military contractor whose motives are as mysterious as his past. Together, they must navigate a maze of deceit and violence in a land where no one can be trusted.”
Production begins in spring 2026.
Coming up next for Ridley is this January’s zombie survival thriller, We Bury the Dead. And of course, there’s also the upcoming Star Wars movie, New Jedi Order, from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. [Deadline]
