It’s been a long time, way too long if you ask me, since we had a new Predator film on the big screen. Shane Black’s The Predator underwhelmed in 2018, and understandably the franchise needed to reestablish itself. Enter Dan Trachtenberg with the streaming hit, Prey, beloved by critics and fans alike. Now Trachtenberg is back, and the stakes are even higher with Predator: Badlands, which will open in theaters next month and unifies the worlds of Predator and Alien once more.
Elle Fanning stars as a Weyland-Yutani synthetic android who teams up with a Yautja outcast named Dek (played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) to hunt down an unstoppable beast.
Trachtenberg is expanding the Predator universe and incorporating Alien lore, with potential down the line for another Alien vs. Predator crossover. He also directed the animated anthology Predator: Killer of Killers, a Hulu exclusive that featured an unexpected update on some familiar characters.
SYNOPSIS: Set in the future on a deadly remote planet, “Badlands” follows a young Predator outcast (played by newcomer Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) who finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Elle Fanning) as he embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.
Predator: Badlands hits theaters and IMAX on November 7th from 20th Century Studios.
