‘Maintenance Required’ Trailer: Madelaine Petsch RomCom Is ‘You’ve Got Mail’ With Classic Cars

Professional rivalry is often at the heart of some of the best romcoms of all-time. Think You’ve Got Mail, with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as business rivals engaged in an online romance. Clearly, the new Amazon Studios romcom Maintenance Required draws some inspiration from that, as stars Madelaine Petsch and Jacob Scipio are in a similar situation.

Petsch stars as Charlie, the owner of an all-female mechanic shop who faces stiff competition from a flashy corporate rival across the street. Little does she know, the owner is the same guy who has become her anonymous online confidante, causing drama both online and offline.

Joining Petsch and Scipio in the cast are Madison Bailey, Katy O’Brian, and Inanna Sarkis star, with Matteo Lane and Jim Gaffigan. Petsch is best known for her long-running role on the series Riverdale. She’s also the star of The Strangers: Chapter 1 and the upcoming sequels.

The film is directed and co-written by Lacey Uhlemeyer, joined by co-writers Roo Berry and Erin Falconer. Uhlemeyer previously directed the documentary The Dancer, but this will mark her feature debut.

SYNOPSIS: Charlie, the fiercely independent owner of an all-female mechanic shop, is forced to reevaluate her future when a flashy corporate competitor moves in across the street.
