The Grabber is back! Ethan Hawke once again dons the mask of the sinister child killer for Scott Derrickson’s Black Phone 2. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have dropped a new trailer for the sequel to 2021’s surprise horror hit which earned $161M worldwide and proved that Hawke can be pretty creepy when he wants to be.
Death isn’t enough to put evil down for good. The Grabber has returned to terrorize Mason Thames’ Finn, along with his sister Gwen, played by Madeleine McGraw who is also back to reprise her role from the earlier film.
Joining them in the cast are Demián Bichir, Miguel Mora, Jeremy Davies, and Arianna Rivas. Derrickson directs from a script he co-wrote with C. Robert Cargill, based on the characters created by Joe Hill.
SYNOPSIS: Ethan Hawke returns to the most sinister role of his career as The Grabber seeks vengeance on Finn (Thames) from beyond the grave by menacing Finn’s younger sister, Gwen (McGraw). As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, the headstrong 15-year-old Gwen begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake. Determined to solve the mystery and end the torment for both her and her brother, Gwen persuades Finn to visit the camp during a winter storm. There, she uncovers a shattering intersection between The Grabber and her own family’s history. Together, she and Finn must confront a killer who has grown more powerful in death and more significant to them than either could imagine.
Black Phone 2 hits theaters on October 17th, just in time for Halloween.
