Oh my. There might be too much heat on the screen for one movie to handle. THR reports Gal Gadot and Matthias Schoenaerts will star in the post-WWII film Ruin, and it’ll likely be one of the hottest titles at the Cannes market this month.
Ruin will star the former Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, and the future Supergirl villain, Matthias Schoenaerts. It’ll be directed by Niki Caro, the New Zealand filmmaker best known for Whale Rider, North Country, and the live-action Mulan. She most recently directed Jennifer Lopez in The Mother.
The script by Kaz and Ryan Firpo (Eternals) topped the 2017 Black List. Ruin is “set in the rubble of Germany following World War II, with a newly released camp prisoner (Gadot) forming an alliance with a German soldier (Schoenaerts) as they both seek revenge on a Nazi Schutzstaffel unit.”
Gadot was seen recently in Disney’s live-action Snow White, playing the Evil Queen. Coming up, Gadot has Julian Schnabel’s In the Hand of Dante, and Amazon MGM’s The Runner. Schoenaerts has The Old Guard 2 coming up, and he’ll play the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. He also has Terrence Malick’s The Way of the Wind, playing Saint Peter.
