Irish actors Pierce Brosnan and Gabriel Byrne join with Helena Bonham Carter for the romantic drama Four Letters of Love, a film about true love and fate, faith and doubt. An adaptation of Niall Williams’ 1997 bestseller, the film is directed by Polly Steele (Lena: The Bride of Ice) adapted by the author himself.
Here’s the synopsis: Nicholas and Isabel are soulmates destined to meet, but love’s path is anything but smooth. As Nicholas’ father pursues a divine calling to paint, shattering their quiet life, Isabel’s world falls apart after a family tragedy. Sent to a convent, she and Nicholas endure heartbreak and separation. Yet, through twists of fate, their lives intertwine in a miraculous reunion.
Playing the fated young lovers in the film are rising stars Fionn O’Shea (Normal People, Wolf) and Ann Skelly (The Nevers).
It’s surprising that this will mark the first time that Brosnan and Byrne have shared the screen. You’d think these two prolific Irish actors would’ve crossed paths before now, and it’s good to see that rectified. All we need now is these two in a movie with Colm Meaney. How has that not already happened?
Quiver Distribution will release Four Letters of Love in theaters on July 25th.
