The reunion between Maika Monroe and Watcher director Chloe Okuno will have to wait. After joining the cast of Okuno’s vampire film Brides back in December, Deadline reports Monroe has dropped out. Her replacement? House of the Dragon star Olivia Cooke.
Cooke takes over from Monroe in the NEON horror film, Brides. Okuno will direct from her own screenplay. The story, set in the 1960s, follows Sally, who travels with her husband to an Italian villa where its owner, a mysterious count, takes a peculiar interest in her. The time period is key, because Sally’s feminist attitude clashes with the count and his group of vampire brides.
Monroe dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with Vanessa Caswill’s film Reminders of Him. She also has Zachary Wigon’s thriller Victorian Psycho coming up.
Cooke has stayed busy in HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, which is entering its third season. The British actress is also known for her roles in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Bates Motel, and Ready Player One.
