‘Avengers: Doomsday’, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Pushed Back Eight Months, Three Marvel Dates Dropped From Schedule

It used to be that Marvel would announce a bunch of films in advance to get fans hyped up for their eventual existence. But when some of those projects couldn’t be ready in time, it caused disruptive ripple effects throughout the schedule. We’re seeing perhaps the biggest example of Disney/Marvel taking steps to fix that, because the two biggest movies coming up, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, have been pushed back eight months. Not only that, but three announced release dates have been snapped out of existence so fast, Thanos would be proud.

Avengers: Doomsday, featuring the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, has been pushed from May 5th to December 18th 2026. Meanwhile, its follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars goes from May 5th to December 17th 2027.

Also, release dates February 13th 2026, November 6th 2026, and November 5th 2027 have been blinked right off the schedule. It was once thought that Blade would fit into the November 6th slot, but that movie’s not happening so forget about that.

This changes the theatrical outlook for Marvel Studios in 2026, with only Avengers: Doomsday in December, preceded by Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July.

2027 now has just two movies, Avengers: Secret Wars and an unknown film on July 23rd. In short, it feels like Marvel is giving the Russo Brothers all of the room they need to succeed without being crowded by the needs of other films. Let’s see how it shakes out.
