‘Sacramento’ Trailer: Kristen Stewart And Michael Cera Star In Michael Angarano’s Road Trip Film

Michael Angarano has had one of those careers where he’s been “that guy”, an actor you recognize from a bunch of movies you like, although he’s never the star. From his beginnings as a child actor in Almost Famous to later roles in Oppenheimer and Horizon: An American Saga, Angarano has now made the move to filmmaking. His directorial debut Avenues debuted to little notice in 2017, but his latest, Sacramento, has an A-list cast that is tough to ignore.

Angarano directs and stars in Sacramento, based on his own screenplay. Also in the cast are his ex, Kristen Stewart (they dated for four years), Michael Cera, and Maya Erskine (his his wife). For my fellow wrestling fans out there, AJ Mendez (aka AJ Lee) also has a small role.

Here’s the synopsis: Following the death of his father, energetic and free-spirited Rickey (Michael Angarano) convinces long-time friend Glenn (Michael Cera) to go on an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento. Frustrated by Rickey’s Peter Pan complex, Glenn is encouraged by his pregnant wife Rosie (Kristen Stewart) to go on the adventure to reconnect. In the worn yellow seats of Glenn’s old college convertible, the two men confront their anxiety-ridden lives, addressing past mistakes and questioning what their futures hold.

Vertical will release Sacramento in theaters on April 11th.
