‘Disclaimer’ Trailer: Cate Blanchett Stars In Alfonso Cuaron’s First-Ever TV Series Next Month

It’s been six years since Alfonso Cuaron’s acclaimed, Oscar-winning drama Roma, but his next project won’t be on the big screen. In further proof that the best place for prestige content is found on television, Cuaron is taking on his first TV series with Disclaimer, featuring an incredible cast led by another Oscar winner: Cate Blanchett.

Blanchett stars along with Sacha Baron Cohen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Kevin Kline, Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, Hoyeon Jung, and Indira Varma. Based on Renée Knight’s 2015 novel, the story follows a documentary journalist who has gotten ahead by exposing others. She finds the tables have turned when she receives a novel with her as the main character, revealing secrets she had wanted to keep hidden.

Cuaron began developing Disclaimer with Apple in December 2021. It had its world premiere at Cannes back in May, followed by Toronto earlier this month. Disclaimer will premiere on Apple TV+ on October 11th, with new episodes weekly until November 15th.

SYNOPSIS: Acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett) built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets and threatens to destroy her family. As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys her life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Baron Cohen) and son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).
