‘Daddy’s Head’ Trailer: A Familiar-Looking Monster Stalks A Grieving Boy In Shudder’s Horror Debuting At Fantastic Fest

With spooky season here, there are usually a couple of smaller horror films that break out. One will probably be The Substance, which is in theaters right now. Could the other one be Daddy’s Head, which is set to have its world premiere at Fantastic Fest tomorrow? Shudder sure hopes so, and have dropped a new trailer that looks absolutely insane and disturbing and all of the qualities you want from a horror this time of year.

Daddy’s Head follows a young boy, still grieving over the recent death of his father. While navigating tensions with stepmother, he starts being terrorized by a grotesque creature that bears a striking resemblance to his deceased dad.

The film is the sophomore effort from English director Benjamin Barfoot, following his 2017 debut Double Date. He carries the creative load on this one as director, writer, editor, and composer of the film’s score.

Starring Julia Brown, Rupert Turnbull, Charles Aitken, and Nathaniel Martello-White, Daddy’s Head streams exclusively to Shudder on October 11th.

SYNOPSIS: In the wake of his father’s untimely death, a young boy is left in the eerie solitude of a sprawling country estate with his newly widowed stepmother. Struggling to navigate the overwhelming task of parenthood, his stepmother grows distant, leaving their fragile bond at risk of collapse. Amidst the growing tension, the boy begins to hear unsettling sounds echoing through the corridors, and is soon haunted by the presence of a grotesque creature bearing a disturbingly familiar resemblance to his late father. As the boy’s warnings are dismissed as the imagination of a grieving child, the sinister entity tightens its grip on their crumbling lives.
