‘Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow’ To Hit Theaters In June 2026

The first chapter of James Gunn launch of DC Studios, titled “Gods and Monsters“, is starting to come together. The animated series Creature Commandos drops later this year, followed by the first live-action movie, Superman, in July 2025. And now we know what will be the second DCU film in theaters. Warner Bros. has announced Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow‘s release date for June 26th 2026.

House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock is set to play Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I Tonya) aboard to direct. They’ll have a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, who penned an earlier version that would’ve starred Sasha Calle of The Flash.

Gunn has called the film a “big science fiction epic film”, but who knows what that means. The key will be making sure that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is a different movie from Superman. It’s very easy to tell the same kinds of stories with the powerful Kryptonian characters, and that shouldn’t be the case here. Gillespie and Gunn are filmmakers who don’t have a similar style or approach.

Other DCU projects on the way include a second season of Peacemaker, an Amanda Waller series with Viola Davis, The Authority, The Brave & the Bold, Teen Titans, and Swamp Thing.
