‘Monkey Man’ Trailer: Dev Patel Unleashes Fury In Action-Packed Directorial Debut

Monkey Man opens on April 5th

The buzz out of SXSW for Dev Patel’s directorial debut Monkey Man is through the roof.  As if it wasn’t already one of the most exciting films to look forward to, Patel’s blistering action flick now has the reviews to back it up. And now today comes a new trailer to get is hyped up even further.

Produced by Jordan Peele, Patel’s film energizes the Hindu legend of Hanuman with kick-ass action in the vein of John Wick and The Raid.

Here’s the synopsis: Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, ‘Monkey Man’ stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.

Patel directs, stars, and co-wrote the script.The film also stars Sharlto Copley of District 9 fame, plus Indian actors Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, Sobhita Dhulipala, Makarand Deshpande, and Ashwini Kalsekar.

Universal drops Monkey Man into theaters on April 5th.
