Timothy Olyphant Joins Noah Hawley’s ‘Alien’ Prequel Series On FX

You can’t go wrong casting Timothy Olyphant in your television series. Noah Hawley knows this better than most, having worked with the actor on season four of Fargo. And so Hawley isn’t going to let Olyphant stray too far away, casting him in his upcoming Alien prequel series on FX.

Deadline confirms that Timothy Olyphant has joined Hawley’s Alien prequel series set 30 years prior to Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic. The show will not be set in space, but primarily follows humans on Earth. Olyphant will play Kirsh, a synthetic character who is a mentor to Wendy, the lead played by Sydney Chandler. Wendy is a woman with the body of an adult but the brain and consciousness of a child.

Also in the cast are Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, and Kit Young.

Whether it’s Deadwood, Fargo, The Mandalorian, Justified and its sequel series Justified: City Primeval, Olyphant’s fans follow him to pretty much any show he’s on. It’s likely they’ll do the same for Alien when it arrives in 2024. Given his track record with both Hawley and FX, this move makes all the sense in the world.
