Bad Luck ‘Blade’: Marvel Film With Mahershala Ali Delayed Due To Writers Strike

You might as well get used to stories like this. The writers’ strike has struck Marvel Studios’ upcoming Blade movie led by Mahershala Ali. Here’s the funny thing; the film has been on the books since four years ago and has been delayed numerous times already, so this is just another to add to the list.

Still, the timing really does suck. It was just days ago that Ali’s True Detective showrunner Nic Pizzolatto came aboard to rewrite the most recent Blade script. And according to THR, Pizzolatto didn’t have a shot at finishing it before the strike began. Oh well. It becomes one of the first, if not the first, major productions to get derailed by the strike.

So what does this mean? Well, Blade has a September 2024 release date that it probably won’t hit. At least the other upcoming Marvel films, this summer’s The Marvels and next year’s Captain America: New World Order are in post. Then again, if one of them suddenly needs a reshoot that could be a problem.
