New ‘Alien’ Movie Recruits ‘Rye Lane’ Star David Jonsson And Three Others To Battle Xenomorphs

There’s a flurry of casting news for Fede Alvarez’s new Alien movie. Earlier this week, Isabela Merced joined Cailee Spaeny in the latest chapter of the sci-fi franchise. And now today, four more additions have been made, including Rye Lane actor David Jonsson.

Jonsson (who I recently interviewed here), is probably best known for HBO series Industry, and is joined by Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (The Batman), and newcomer Aileen Wu. Spaeny and Merced will lead the charge in the latest battle against the Xenomorphs, and there are some new, if vague, details on that fight in 20th Century Studios’ press release…

“In this ninth entry in the immensely popular and enduring film series, a group of young people on a distant world find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”

Sounds familiar. And with Alvarez working alongside his Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe co-writer Rodo Sayagues, expect the tension to be as high as the body count.

Filming begins next week, so perhaps we’ll have an official title by then?
