David Lowery To Direct An Episode Of ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’

There was a time when the news of David Lowery directing anything in the Star Wars universe would’ve been shocking. But after helming Disney’s Pete’s Dragon and the upcoming Peter Pan and Wendy, not so much anymore. One Take News was first to report that Lowery will direct an episode of Disney+ series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. THR has since confirmed the report.

So check this out: if you were skeptical about the show which follows a group of lost kids trying to find their way home in the big, dangerous New Republic, the creative talent should change that. Not only do you have Lowery, an acclaimed filmmaker whose art house cred is bolstered by films such as Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and The Green Knight, but you have his fellow A24 stable mates The Daniels, who just won Best Picture for Everything Everywhere All At Once.

On top of that, you have Spider-Man filmmaker Jon Watts as co-creator and co-showrunner alongside Christopher Ford. The show is led by Jude Law, with the rest of the cast unrevealed.
