‘Big George Foreman’ Trailer: Khris Davis And Forest Whitaker Star In A Boxing Drama About The Champ’s Comeback Story

The man who invented the Foreman Grill is about to get his due on the big screen. Of course, George Foreman was famous long before he made it easier for people to cook up burgers at home. He was one of the great boxing heavyweight champions, with a comeback story that inspired and proved that you’re never too old to make an impact. And it’s that story which will be told in the new film with a lengthy title, Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Directed by George Tillman Jr. (The Hate U Give), the film stars Judas and the Black Messiah and Detroit actor Khris Davis as George Foreman. This will be Davis’ biggest role to date. He’s joined by Jasmine Mathews, Sullivan Jones, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., and John Magaro, Sonja Sohn and Forest Whitaker as Foreman’s mentor Doc Broadus.

Here’s the synopsis: Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World is based on the remarkable true story of one of the greatest comebacks of all time and the transformational power of second chances. Fueled by an impoverished childhood, Foreman channeled his anger into becoming an Olympic Gold medalist and World Heavyweight Champion, followed by a near-death experience that took him from the boxing ring to the pulpit. But when he sees his community struggling spiritually and financially, Foreman returns to the ring and makes history by reclaiming his title, becoming the oldest and most improbable World Heavyweight Boxing Champion ever. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker George Tillman Jr. from a story by Dan Gordon and Frank Baldwin & George Tillman Jr, and a screenplay by Baldwin & Tillman, the film stars Khris Davis ( Judas and the Black Messiah) as Foreman and also stars Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker as Foreman’s trainer and mentor Doc Broadus.

Hopefully, by the time the film is released on April 28th, that title will be trimmed down to just Big George Foreman.
