‘Fantastic Four’: Marvel Sets Red-Hot Writing Duo For MCU Reboot

Marvel is moving right along with their Fantastic Four reboot, which will hit theaters as part of Phase Six in 2024. That’s nearly a decade after the atrocious Josh Trank movie that everyone would like to forget. It was confirmed at D23 that WandaVision‘s Matt Shakman will be at the helm, but now a red-hot duo of writers have come aboard, as well.

Deadline reports that Fantastic Four will have a script by up ‘n coming writing duo of Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. While they don’t have anything together that you could’ve seen, the report says they’re new as a duo and are one of the “hotter” teams around, having sold a number of spec scripts including the upcoming comedy Disaster Wedding that just landed Palm Springs director Max Barbakow. Kaplan previously wrote and directed 2013 comedy Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship.

The report goes on to state that Kaplan and Springer have been attached to Fantastic Four prior to Shakman’s hiring, and have been working with Kevin Feige to chart the franchise’s place in the MCU. Shakman will now become part of the process, as well.

Questions still swirl about who will play Marvel’s “First Family” of superheroes. Plenty of rumors are out there, including a possible return of John Krasinski to the role following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but nothing is confirmed.

Fantastic Four hits theaters on November 8th 2024.
