‘The Sea Beast’ Trailer: Karl Urban Voices A Monster-Hunting Animated Adventure For Netflix

Chris Williams is a veteran animator who has been behind the camera for some big films, including Bolt, Moana, and Oscar winner Big Hero 6, and a contributor to some gigantic ones including both Frozen movies plus Raya and the Last Dragon. Well now he’s back and plying his trade for Netflix with the upcoming animated adventure, The Sea Beast, which marks his solo debut.

Featuring the voices of Karl Urban and Jared Harris, with Zaris-Angel Hator, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Dan Stevens, and Kathy Burke, the film takes place in a time of great and terrible monsters roaming the seas. The fiercest monster hunter, Jacob Holland, sets out on a dangerous hunt only to discover that a young girl has stowed away on his ship, and suddenly he has an unexpected ally.

This looks positively charming, and with a solid blend of action, too. Netflix eaned itself an Oscar nomination for The Mitchells vs. the Machines and they might have another with The Sea Beast, which hits the streamer on July 8th.

In an era when terrifying beasts roamed the seas, monster hunters were celebrated heroes – and none were more beloved than the great Jacob Holland. But when young Maisie Brumble stows away on his fabled ship, he’s saddled with an unexpected ally. Together they embark on an epic journey into uncharted waters and make history. From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Chris Williams (Moana, Big Hero Six, Bolt), “The Sea Beast” takes us to where the map ends, and the true adventure begins.
