Dave Bautista Still “Looking Forward” To Marvel Exit After ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 3’

The guy who has benefitted the most from his time in the MCU is the most eager to leave it. Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Dave Bautista has made no secret of his eagerness to jet once his contract is up after Vol. 3, bringing his time as Drax to an end.

Bautista reiterated this “bittersweet” desire to leave once again to Comicbook.com. The actor and former WWE superstar got the biggest boost of his career thanks to Marvel, but with roles in Dune and Knives Out 2, he certainly doesn’t need them…

“It’s our third film. We’re going to wrap it up,”Bautista said. “And it’s been a hell of a journey with a few bumps. So I’m looking forward to this, man. My cast and obviously the director, James Gunn, they’re like family to me. This is kind of where my journey started. It’s come full circle and I’m looking forward to wrapping it up. And it’s a bittersweet… I mean, I’ve been doing ‘Guardians’ since 2013. And, you know, when this comes out, you know, it’ll be in 2023, so that’s a, you know, 10-year journey…You know, all things must end. And, you know, I’m looking forward to kind of wrapping this up with my friends and family.”

I still think you’ll see Bautista reconnect with Gunn, perhaps as Bane (?) in a Suicide Squad sequel or spinoff. Just a hunch.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 opens May 5th 2023.
