‘Shadow In The Cloud’ Trailer: Chloe Grace Moretz Faces A Gremlin At 20,000 Feet

I’ve been hearing a lot about Shadow in the Cloud, an action/horror hybrid starring Chloe Grace Moretz and directed by Roseanne Liang. Part of the reason is that it’s co-written by Max Landis (ugh), but also because the film is supposed to be absolutely batshit crazy based on some of the early reviews. Well, now we have the first teaser, dropped by Moretz herself, and I think that description might be accurate.

Set during WWII, Moretz plays Flight Officer Maude Garrett, who hitched a ride aboard a B-17 with orders to escort a mysterious, highly-classified package to its destination. Of course, this being the movies, that job isn’t so easy, but for the wildest of reasons. A gremlin has also stowed away on the plane and has the intention of wreaking as much chaos during the flight as possible.

Like I said, the film was co-written by Max Landis who has become pretty poisonous during the #MeToo and #TimesUp era. That made it a little bit awkward when this was positioned as his big comeback movie, seeing as how it starred a female action star, literally the breakout actress from Kick-Ass, in a kickass leading role. While Liang has done a pretty good job of distancing herself from Landis, his name is still attached to the movie and that could hurt it.

Also starring Beulah Koale, Taylor John Smith, Callan Mulvey and Nick Robinson, Shadow in the Cloud opens digitally on January 1st.
