‘Vanguard’ Trailer: Jackie Chan Takes On Deadly Mercenaries In Latest Globe-Trotting Action Flick

Jackie Chan is still alive and kicking. Literally. The Hong Kong martial arts legend is 66 years old and, well, he’s not going anywhere. He has a handful of movies in 2020, including his upcoming directorial effort The Diary, but it’s his latest film that we’re talking about now. Vanguard is the sort of globe-trotting action flick that actors half Chan’s age couldn’t pull-off…well, unless that actor is Tom Cruise.

Speaking of which, how have we not have a Chan/Cruise teamup yet?

Chan stars as the leader of elite covert group Vanguard as they race to prevent the world’s deadliest mercenaries from killing an accountant and unleashing terror on the world. This thing goes from Dubai to London to Africa and more, with Chan literally jump-kicking across speeding jet skis, running from lions, and of course, throwing his body into one dangerous stunt after another.

The film is directed by Stanley Tong, a Chan confidante who has directed him in Rumble in the Bronx, CZ12, Police Story, and more. He also helmed the god-awful Leslie Nielsen “comedy”, Mr. Magoo.

Vanguard opens in select theaters on November 20th.

SYNOPSIS: Covert security company Vanguard is the last hope of survival for an accountant after he is targeted by the world’s deadliest mercenary organization.
